Founded in 1987, BNP Residential Properties began as a public company that was an owner of 47 fast food restaurant properties that were leased to a third party franchise operator.

In 1993, the Board of Directors realized that the company needed a new focus.  We began the transition to owning and operating workforce housing with the acquisition of our first community in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Soon after in 1994, this transition accelerated when the company acquired a multifamily property management and development company that was operated by the current management team.  For the next thirteen years, we continued to grow our portfolio throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  In February 2007, we began the latest step in our evolution by combining the financial strength of Babcock & Brown and operational expertise of BNP Residential as Babcock & Brown Residential.

For fifteen years, we have developed a vibrant company culture by pursuing a simple strategy – focus on the underserved middle-income market, perhaps the most underserved segment of the rental apartment industry.  Our residents are hard working, middle-income families, couples and individuals.  Typically, they are employed in the service industry – firefighters, police officers, teachers, office staff and manufacturing workers.  Our unwavering commitment to these residents is at the very core of our philosophy.  By providing quality, value and exceptional service to our residents, we will continue to enjoy growth and success.
